SOMETHING IS BETTER THAN NOTHING

Eric's Blog on Monday made many, if not most, laugh. While most members do participate in that same fashion and probably have a similar experience, I still believe that you should, at a minimum, ask these few questions once per year.

  1. Reserves - Does your association have any? If not, how strong is your operating cash position?

  2. Budget - Is the board spending according to the budget?

  3. Maintenance - What are the general conditions of the associations' property/equipment?

If you don’t feel comfortable with your discovery of the above questions, you may need to dig in a bit more.  If you do, then you are one of those lucky residents that moved into the right association because of great leadership and management support.

Associations come in many sizes, and what fits one doesn't fit all. In addition to that, you involve volunteers in the mix, and it can get hairy quickly. It's better to know a little something than nothing at all.
