No Good Deed Goes Unpunished!

To the many Board members who work tirelessly for the betterment of their community, WE SALUTE YOU!

We wish for you a relaxing Labor Day, full of quiet reflection, family time and simply enjoying life. After all, you work a fulltime job, have a family to care for and volunteer diligently as a Board member to improve the lifestyle experience of every homeowner in your community. Truly, your good deeds should be recognized by your homeowners and rewarded with a day ALL to yourself.

But let’s get real…..with 90% of your community off work and children out of school, your good deeds will be punished!!! If you try to enjoy your pool or other amenities, my prediction is you will be bombarded with complaints. Yes, from the homeowners who never attend meetings or volunteer to serve. You’ll hear, “We need more social events”, “We need more Homeowner meetings”, “We should have a newsletter committee”. What they are really saying is, I want MORE but don’t ask me to give my time or energy to make it happen!

Then there are those who will approach you with suggestions of, “We need to buy new pool furniture” or “The Board needs to replace all of the fitness equipment”. Astonishingly enough, these are the same individuals would NEVER pay their fees! Do they think money grows on trees?

So for all the hard work and dedication you show as a diligent and proactive Board member, I say, rent some movies, stock your fridge and lock yourself indoors knowing that your hard work is appreciated by the majority. Even if they are clueless on how to show it! I wish you a peaceful holiday!
