PROCEED WITH CAUTION

First let me say, I’m extremely happy that Eric’s children we not seriously injured in the pool incident. Let this be a subtle reminder to all Board Members out there who are struggling with Association finance and looking for ways to address maintenance deficiencies or deferred maintenance in the least expensive way possible.

 

Florida is known for requiring a license for everything. Property Management Maintenance, Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, Pool Care, YOU NAME IT and Florida will license you to do it.  But beware, getting your license doesn’t mean you are qualified to do the job, it simply means you paid the state a fee, took a class and may have passed a basic test.  Bidding out work to well known, reliable, properly licensed contractors or vendors is paramount to ensuring quality work and care is given to every job. Never assume that when vendors or contractors say they are capable of doing a job, that they have the proper training and experience to perform it correctly. Always CHECK THEIR REFERENCES with customers for whom they have performed the same scope of work, to ensure their qualifications will meet your needs and expectations.
