BELIEVE IT OR NOT

It seems like everywhere you go, people are taking their so called “service dogs” with them. They are in the airports, restaurants, malls, casinos and even pet restricted associations are not exempt. Management Firms and Boards appear to have no real control over who has pets and how they become “Service Pets” or “Emotional Support Pets”. It has become so easy to go online and register your pet as a service animal that everyone seems to be using this to sidestep Association rules regarding pets.

Recently, a Homeowner, who has continually complained about the noise level from the unit above her, filed a lawsuit stating “The noise from the children in the unit above has created emotional distress on my emotional support dog and now the emotional support dog needs medication and counseling”.

Really soon we will have owners claiming they need service dogs or emotional support animals for their service dogs or emotional support animals. So where will it stop? Do you think this claim might be used when someone wants more than one pet? Do you think Homeowners are abusing the ease of registering their pets online?

Let us know what you think.
