Is Protecting Your Lifestyle Possible?

Purchasing what is likely the most expensive investment you will make during your lifetime is becoming a roll of the dice. There seems to be an abundance of “Community Residential Homes” popping up everywhere. Florida is not the only state to be experiencing this trend. It seems everywhere there are unit owners turning their homes into facilities for the mentally challenged, alcohol & drug addicted, child predators, the elderly, etc.

Is it just me or does it seem the government is freely allowing this without consideration of those who live in the surrounding homes? Who is supervising these facilities? Who is protecting these individuals from themselves? Who is protecting the neighbors? Has anyone given thought to the changes or cost an owner must face when one of these facilities moves next door? Most importantly, are their guidelines for Boards and CAM’s to handle situations that arise or to file complaints? Make no mistake, tragedy will occur and when it does, who will be held responsible? Do we all need to purchase a home in the middle of nowhere to protect our way of life?
