IF YOU ARE AN HOA, THE DPBR IS NOT A RESOURCE YOU CAN USE!

It’s true, there are many resources available and we highly recommend the “Condo Craze and HOA’s Board Certification Course”. It’s extremely informative, absolutely not boring and definitely worth your time.

But, unfortunately if you are an HOA, you can’t call on the Florida DPBR to help if your Board or your CAM is misbehaving! Why is that you might ask? Well, as of today, HOA’s are only required to inform the DPBR of how many units they have in their Association. They are not required to pay the annual fee ($4.00 per unit for Condominiums) which would give them full access to all the services provided buy the DPBR.

During the past three years, I have witnessed Eric Glazer of Glazer and Associates and Jan Bergemann of CCFJ (Cyber Citizens for Justice) fight tirelessly to have Florida Legislators pass legislation empowering HOA’s. While each year they make some headway, they have not reached the golden ticket. No it’s not fair and yes Homeowners Associations should be treated the same as Condominium Associations! What can you do to make this happen? Get involved. Read our blog. Listen regularly to Eric’s Condo Craze and HOA’s live radio show each Sunday and join CCFJ (www.ccfj.net) Support those who support you!

No this is not an advertisement for either of these, but as a Management Firm it greatly disturbs me when I see the level of mismanagement some HOA’s have experienced.
