CONTINUING EDUCATION OR NOT?

As a licensed broker in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, I am required by each state to complete 36 hours of continuing education prior to license renewal. The reasoning behind this is, “By attending continuing education mandated by and approved by the issuing state, it is believed the public will be better protected from financial improprieties and violation of state and federal regulations”.

 

So, knowing that boards are responsible for operating the association’s affairs according to FLS-718 or FLS-720, and that they control the finances of the association as they see appropriate. Am I wrong in thinking not only should they be required to attend a FREE board certification seminar, but that they should be required to attend continuing education classes, annually, to ensure the public is protected from their lack of knowledge?!
