SO WHO IS ON YOUR TEAM?

It’s always motivational to each of us that have the privilege to participate in the Condo Craze and HOA’s Board Certification Seminars. The people who attend, along with the readers of our blog, show tremendous dedication to the betterment of their association and community. But as we all know, the board needs support, guidance and input. It has to be a team effort.

HOMEOWNERS have to support, encourage and get involved so that board members understand the needs and desires of the community as a whole and are able to make decisions that increase property values and enhance daily living.

LCAM MANAGEMENT TEAM must understand that the board is THE DECISION MAKER and they are the FACILITATORS. We are to offer advice, information, professionalism, follow through and responsiveness. If your management firm is only interested in their market share, use only their vendors, make decisions for the board, then they are not on your team!

LEGAL REPRESENTATION- The association’s legal counsel should offer professionalism, guidance, sound advice and have the association’s best interest at the forefront of every suggestion or decision they assist the board in making. If your legal counsel is more interested in filing suits and generating more and more billable hours, are they really your team member? Together, a board and homeowners who have attended a certification seminar along with a caring committed LCAM firm, legal counsel and association will thrive and everyone reaps the benefits. So my question is, who is on your association’s team and do you need to make some changes?
